No position found
to the question "Should the U.S. have attacked Iraq?"
|

| Reasoning: | "The war has had destabilizing as well as stabilizing and unknown effects. It also created new precedence. One is the disruption of the regional balance of power. Turkey, Iran, and Israel are now playing larger roles than before the war. More importantly, the United States is also playing the role, not only of the regional superpower, but of the balancer as well.
The question remains whether the role
that United States is playing in Iraq is very similar to the role that brought Britain to the region and let it dominate the Middle East for almost a century when it went to Egypt, or more like what happened to Britain in 1956 when it won a
military victory and lost the political war." "Syria, the Arab World and Challenges of Peacemaking in
the Middle East"
